Illinois: what a medical director of a addiction medicine / mat clinic must do

For Opioid Treatment Programs: physician licensed under the Medical Practice Act of 1987. For Level 3 services: physician or licensed APRN. For Level 1, 2, or 2.5 services: physician, APRN, or physician assistant. May serve full- or part-time, or on a consulting/voluntary basis.

• Develop and approve all medical services for the organization
• Develop clinical protocol for mandated treatment
• Ensure compliance with employee orientation and personnel requirements
• Oversee diversion-control plan
• Oversee infectious-disease control procedures

Applies to any organization licensed by IDHS to provide substance use disorder treatment/intervention services (including MAT). Qualification tier varies by service level — not always required to be a physician. Organization must notify IDHS within 10 days of any medical-director change.
