Indiana: what a medical director of a addiction medicine / mat clinic must do

Physician licensed in Indiana, and at least one of: ≥1 year's experience as a physician in an Opioid Treatment Program (OTP), already employed as an OTP medical director as of the rule's effective date, or completion of 10 hours of opioid-addiction-treatment training within 1 year of hiring. Must obtain admitting privileges at one local hospital within 30 days of hiring.

• Ensure all medical protocols are in writing and reviewed/approved annually
• Establish clinical standards for medication induction, titration, and tapering
• Ensure each patient receives a complete physical examination on admission
• Confirm each patient voluntarily chooses maintenance opioid addiction treatment and provides written informed consent
• Oversee treatment-plan review at least every 6 months
• Ensure clinical evaluation within 10 days of a positive drug screen
