Qualifications

Physician licensed to practice medicine in New Mexico.

Duties the rule assigns

  • Assumes responsibility for administering all OTP medical services, directly or by delegating specific responsibility to authorized program medical practitioners under the medical director's direct supervision
  • Has authority over all medical aspects of opioid treatment and ensures the OTP's compliance with applicable federal/state/local law
  • Determines and documents admission eligibility (opioid-dependence diagnosis, physical exam, duration-of-addiction/waiver criteria)
  • Orders and reviews take-home medication regimens at intervals no less than 90 days
  • Plans and supervises medically supervised withdrawal treatment
