Colorado: what a medical director of a long-term care / assisted living / group home must do

A physician, retained by the facility under a written agreement.

• Act as liaison between the facility and admitting physicians on physician services, orders, and staff requests
• Consult on development and implementation of resident care policies
• Establish standards governing the conduct of physicians admitting residents
• Consult on emergency-care procedures when a resident's own practitioner is unavailable
• Review accidents and hazards
• Participate in the pharmaceutical advisory committee
• Participate in the psychotropic medication review committee
• Chair or co-chair the required quality management committee

Confirmed for licensed nursing care facilities specifically (6 CCR 1011-1, Ch. 5, § 5-8) — the medical director must visit in person at least once every 3 months, not maintain ongoing physical presence. Colorado's separate assisted living residence rules (Ch. 7) list only an Administrator among required leadership roles — no 'Medical Director' section was found there, so don't assume this extends to ALFs.
