Notes

Both Iowa Code Ch. 135C (Health Care Facilities โ€” nursing facilities AND residential care facilities) and Ch. 231C (Assisted Living Programs) were read in full (text-searched directly): neither ever uses the phrase 'medical director.' A nursing-facility-specific director may still be required under Iowa's implementing administrative code (441 IAC Ch. 58) and/or the federal 42 CFR ยง483.75(i) SNF Condition of Participation โ€” not independently verified here โ€” but residential care/assisted living has no statutory mandate.
