New Hampshire: what a medical director of a long-term care / assisted living / group home must do

Physician licensed in New Hampshire under RSA 329 or 326-B.

• Implementation of resident care policies and coordination of medical care in the facility (per the rule's own definition of the role)
• Serves as one of the minimum 3 members of the facility's quality-improvement committee, alongside a nursing representative and an administration representative

Applies to licensed nursing homes only (He-P 803). NH's separate assisted-living-residence/residential-care rule (He-P 804) is genuinely ambiguous: its fine schedule references a possible 'change in... medical director,' but the operative notice-of-change provision it cites (He-P 804.08(i)) only actually addresses the administrator — suggesting the role may be optional there rather than a codified requirement. A human should confirm this with the NH Dept. of Health and Human Services directly.
