Signing for a Certified Nurse-Midwife in Minnesota: what the physician takes on
No agreement is required, so the terms are whatever you both negotiate. Certified Nurse-Midwives practice independently in Minnesota, so any agreement is voluntary.
CNM is one of Minnesota's four APRN roles (§ 148.171, subd. 10), not a separate license. Research could not confirm whether CNMs were ever covered by the now-repealed 2,080-hour rule (its text named only 'nurse practitioner or clinical nurse specialist') — moot as of August 1, 2026 either way, since that gate no longer exists for any APRN role.

About Minnesota's rules
H.F. 1794 repealed the NP/CNS 2,080-hour postgraduate collaborative-agreement rule (Minn. Stat. § 148.211, subd. 1c) effective August 1, 2026 — already in force. PA remains CONDITIONAL under a separate, still-active 2,080-hour rule (§ 147A.02(c)); 2025 reform bills (H.F. 89/S.F. 1083) to loosen it are pending, not confirmed enacted.
